ACTIV Physical Therapy ----- ORTHO SPINE SPORTS

OUR APPROACH

The ACTIV physical therapy model is based on the diagnostic and therapeutic philosophy of the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine.  Fully understanding the problem is the first step to a successful outcome.  Understanding the problem begins with a thorough history and a detailed clinical examination.  After identifying the pain generating structure and understanding the accompanying movement dysfunction, treatment and progressions become much more intuitive and straightforward.   As a result, patients become very engaged in the process, and they understand that with the help of a good physical therapist they are empowered to achieve success, and their program becomes very meaningful.

The ACTIV model works for the "routine" ankle sprains to complex and chronic musculoskeletal dysfunction and pain.  It is not uncommon that a routine ankle sprain evolves into a stubborn problem like chronic ankle instability.  This can be prevented with the ACTIV model.  On the other hand, there are sometimes simple solutions to longstanding problems, like chronic back and neck pain, by just starting with a thorough history and detailed clinical examination.

ACTIV Physical Therapy works closely with a diverse network of Physicians from Summit, Cuyahoga, and Medina counties, including the following specialties: Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, Pain Medicine, and Family Medicine.

You do not need a prescription or referral to see a Physical Therapist in the State of Ohio, although many of our patients are directly referred from physicians and other medical and non-medical providers.  However, ACTIV believes in using the team-approach whenever possible.  It is not uncommon that following a thorough history and detailed clinical examination ACTIV may refer you to your physician or a physician-specialist who will help us achieve the best results!  ACTIV also has a broad and growing network of non-medical and community relationships with coaches, performance trainers, personal trainers, and community sports programs.
